Ayr racecourse
Scotland's premier track situated on the west coast is equally at home to Flat and jump racing. The Scottish Grand National in April and the Ayr Gold Cup in September are its biggest meetings and attract bumper crowds.
A left-handed circuit, it is about a mile and a half round with a straight six furlongs and was opened in 1907.

| Flat: | Left-hand course of about 1 1/5m with a home straight of about 4f. High numbers best at 1m 7f, a track which suits the galloping type. |
| Jumps: | Left-hand almost flat track of about 1 1/2m, with a run-in of about 210yds.There are nine quite stiff fences with three in the home straight. Suits the long striding type. |
