Dawn breaks Kilternan rivals

Await The Dawn is an easy winner

Aidan O'Brien's Await The Dawn is beginning to make up for lost time and took the Kilternan Stakes at Leopardstown in tremendous fashion.

Always nicely placed behind the front-running South Easter, Johnny Murtagh's mount took over entering the straight and soon went clear.

Having just his fourth start, the Giant's Causeway colt was easy in the market beforehand but that did not stop him taking the Group Three prize by nine lengths as the 7-2 joint-favourite.

South Easter plugged on for second, with fellow British raider Nanton staying on from the rear to take third.

O'Brien said: "He was very impressive first time last year, then we travelled him to England after that and it might have been too soon.

"He's progressed very well and looked exciting there. He's had an easy first half of the season and we look forward to the next day with him. he has loads of class and Johnny has always liked him."

The winner was completing a quick double for the O'Brien yard after the success of Juliet Capulet (7-1) in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

Joseph O'Brien set out to make all on the experienced juvenile and she stretched clear in the straight to score by three lengths.
