Show team mull options

Music Show

Music Show could step up in trip on her next racecourse appearance after plugging on to finish third in Saturday's Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.

Mick Channon's three-year-old was sent off favourite for the Group One contest following victory in the Falmouth Stakes, but she had to settle for minor honours behind Lillie Langtry and Spacious.

While she could stick to a mile in the Sun Chariot Stakes on October 2, the 10-furlong Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp the following day and the Champion Stakes over the same trip on October 16 are other options.

Bruce Raymond, racing manager for owner Jaber Abdullah, said: "I was surprised the ground had gone and most of the jockeys were saying it was on the soft side, which is not suitable for her.

"When they don't go so fast she hits that little flat spot when they quicken up and that's what happened on Saturday. She really needs a proper end-to-end gallop.

"I'm not sure where she'll go next, but I think Mick is ready to step her up to a mile and a quarter.

"She could go for the Prix de l'Opera, the Sun Chariot or the Champion Stakes. Those are really the options at this time of year, so we'll see what happens."
